Ok, watched Closer the other day, twice actually. My only nagging question is about the ending.

While I have a few of my own theories, I'm interested in other opinions of why Alice (Natalie Portman) stops loving Dan (Jude Law).

Is it his selfishness in forcing her to reveal the secret about herself and Larry (Clive Owen) for no reason other than his own satisfaction, does she finally realize that Dan epitomizes the sentiment of the movie's tagline: "If you believe in love at first sight you'll never stop looking?"

Does she realize that her ultimate lie (about her name) is about to unravel? Alluding back to the selfishness aspect, is it that although she would love him forever, she knows that he won't let her, since he's going to go wherever the wind blows him, thus destroying her feelings?

Already discussed it with my wife, she thinks it's just up to the viewer to figure out...that's not good enough for me, lol...
