During booting Win 98SE - 256 MB RAM, I get 2 messages:
1. PXE-MO4 Initializing network boot device using interrupt 18h : this one very early in the proccess
2. Code page operation not supported on this device. Device error during select.
The first one appeared during an unsuccesfull restore with PowerQuest Second Chance.
I got into BIOS but without any luck. I'm not an artist in Bios however !
Q = What is missing ? A real problem or should I live with it or worry ?
Thanx !

Are you connected to a network?
And Do you want to boot off the network?
If you do not want to boot off a network server.
then you need to go into your bios,
Under the Boot selection.
you should have the normal boot device selections ( floppy,, Hard drive ,, cd-rom) below these you will see a 4th option. Other Boot Device ( INT18 Device “Network”)
Change that option to “disable” and the network boot attempt will stop

Rick,
You got it ! Thank you so much !
It was a little difficult though because of the BIOS interface: under "Devices and I/O Ports", I found "Network Boot" where I changed from DHCP to "disabled". The other ones like "Star Options" had "Diskless Operations" but this brought no solution...
The other question: I still have my BIOS from early 1999. Is it worthwile to flash to the newest one or should I leave it alone as my PC works fine ?
Also: any idea about the "code page operation" one ? But this to me as not important... Is it ?
Thanx !

The Old saying.
“If it isn’t broke Don’t fix it.”
Unless you need something included in the Bios update. or a bug fix in the bios update.
Don’t mess with it.
Use the default code page in the bios settings .
Again. if it isn’t broke don’t fix it..
The Diskless and the network boot / DHCP are basically the same thing
All settings for booting Off the network.
Once disabled (network Boot) the other settings have no effect
