open up an IE window, Tools > Internet Options > under temporary internet files, click "delete files"

also, click on "clear history", that will clear your previously viewed sites.

that should do it

I was once playing around [on somone elses PC] with a file recovery program and got a shock when I saw what had been deleted.
I think you'll need to do better than was suggested.

There's a record kept by Windows ["index.dat"] of every site you've ever visited since the OS was installed [with dates & times of visit].
I use "Spider" with Win98 to "delete" that [it can't be done normally, Spider does it by rebooting into DOS deleting it and then rebooting into Windows]. Do this before using Eraser as follows.

If you delete the files, then use "Eraser" to "Erase" all the "Unused Space" on all partitions. Specify the number of times to overwrite [1 to 35] with random patterns of 1's & 0's. This will make deleted files irrecoverable.

Here is the link for spider. works on all OS's. I have been using it for a few years without any bother. If you decide to use it make sure that you select "Complete Hard Ddrive" from the selection. Do this (seperately) for all partions. Be aware though that it only removes history/cookies etc from IE and not from Opera or Firefox

I suspect firefox doesn't keep the kind of record that IE does, so probably no problem. :)
Never heard of any such problem with Firefox.
