Explore.exe what directory should it be in??? on the root of c: or in windows

by default in win98 and XP it is in C:\windows

While your at it. Check out the search item in the start menu.
Start/search / Files or folder
In the box for search item type in the name of the file your looking for with out the extension.
You should get a list of files that meet your search criteria ..
