operating system

well first of all i said a while ago i was offered the free windows x64 pro operating system but when i went to order the cd the other day it said something about registering within 14 days...and thats just not enough sorry...lol if i misunderstood something please tell me so i can order that and save some money but besides that... whats the best way to get windows xp home edition? i tried amazon and had some good prices like $84 usd but i dont know what to trust so any help would be nice thanks alot guys

Newegg has the OEM versions of Windows for sale. All you need to buy with it is a qualifying OEM part, like an IDE cable or a hard drive. Every vendor interprets that differently, but Newegg has some good deals.

The only downsides to buying an OEM version of Windows vs a retail version are the lack of colorful packaging and the lack of phone/tech support. Not really downsides if you ask me! :D
