Hi, new to the forum.
Ive got a few problems that I need some help with, tried the mircosoft help line but provided little help.

Ok, theres my problem.
I recenlty upgraded my computer from windows ME(which was factory installed) to windows XP home edition. Now when ever I put in a cd in the cd drive it wont read it, if I created off when I had ME installed. I have picture cd's that I created when ME was installed and now cant read them, says they are blank. But cd's created since the install of XP it does read them.

When I bought the XP upgrade i was told to delete fully the ME program which I did. Now this and a few other programs dont work right
My backup ME cd's are just three individual cd's they are not labled with specific programs.
I just dont know what to do. Thanks for any help...Eric

Hi erice,
Welcome to the PC Guide forums!

I moved this thread to the Windows help forum from Buying Advice.
First of all lets start with the OS install itself:
Did you check your BIOS and hardware to make certain they were compatable with XP?
What are your hardware specs?
Did you do a "clean install", meaning wiping the drive and then installing the XP?
Which file system did you choose for XP: FAT32 or NTFS?

We need additional information.

Which application was used to write to the CD's, and which are you now using to attempt to read them?
And is that application compatible with WinXP?

Go here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/upgrading/advisor.mspx to download and run the "Windows XP Upgrade Advisor".
That will generate a report saved to a text file telling you of any problems likely to be experienced with software or hardware due to incompatibility.
