Hi there! I am having problems with my Presario 2100 laptop. I just bought a used motherboard for my laptop on Ebay (the old one was ruined beyond repair). Anyways, I got it installed correctly, and it starts up fine. But, the only way I can get the monitor to work is if I start the computer without it plugged in then plug it in a few seconds in the startup sequence. I talked to the people at HP/Compaq, they said to flash the BIOS while the monitor is working, but the files they suggested say that the BIOS is not for my model. I'm kinda at my wits end here, I don't want to have to pop the speaker cover off every time I start/restart Windows. Thanks in advance!

There is an option in the bios to allow the lcd or a monitor to work with your laptop- check that setting. If it is on automatic -put it on LCD screen only!
If you are hooking it up to a separate monitor this is also where you can turn it on. If neither of these work you probably have a bad processor!
