Problem with XP installation. I upgraded from ME to XP, system worked fine for a while then upon startup the system would stop at the press “DEL” key to enter set-up. I would enter set-up change nothing exit set-up and windows would start. After dealing with this for awhile the machine became increasingly difficult to start. I believe the hard drive crashed so I bought a new HD, Western Digital 80 gig and installed XP (Fat32). I kept getting an error message “NTLRD”. Finely got the OS installed ran fine for about a week, started the system today and got the same message press “DEL” key to enter set-up????? Any ideas?

System specs:
Dell dimension 4100
Processor Pent III 933 MHz
384 MB ram
Second drive from previous system added back to system after OS installed

Sounds like there are occasional small hardware differences at startup causing the prompt to enter the BIOS setup. Check all cables and connections for good fits first and then consider reseating the RAM and Video Cards and even possibly renew the small CMOS battery.
