Can I setup a wireless network myself or do I really need to have the internet company come out here and do something special that only internet companies can do? It costs $150 bucks for them to come out.

Yes, 2 different pc's can be wired and wireless, (as long as they are connected to the same router).

Well this depends on a few things, the most important of which being if you have a router with a built-in WAP (Wireless Access Point). This is pretty easy to tell since if it does, it will usually have one or two antennas sticking out of it.

For your "wireless" PC, you will also need a way to communicate wirelessly with the router. Does the computer already have a wireless network interface card? These come in all flavors, but a very easy one to use is a USB wireless adapter, since it does not require opening the case and installing a new NIC.

This can be as easy or complicated as you make it, but we will need to know so more details about what equipment you already have, what you need, and what you are looking to accomplish by having a home network (i.e. Internet sharing, file sharing, printer sharing, etc.).

As far as 150 dollars, save the money...:) We can certainly help talk you through the setup process -- for free...:D

Hey Rodney3. Congrats that you got your setup working.

For the benefit of others who may run into the same or similar problem, perhaps you might like to give a little description about what the problem turned out to be and most importantly, how you fixed it...

Thanks, and it's great to hear that you're up and runnning...:D
