Hi,

I'm a business student at the Dresden Technical University, Dresden, Germany. Right now I'm writing my final thesis on communication in virtual teams. Part of that is an anonymous survey on web board / forum usage. I'd like to find out what users expect by using such a board or forum.

Participation in this survey will take 10 to 15 minutes.

Please follow this link: http://www.equestionnaire.de/?q=882

I'm really looking forward to find a lot of you participating in this survey.

Thanks in advance!

I might be more inclined if you had more than one post Ulrich...

One thing I will tell you about web forums and usage... Anonymous people asking me to go to websites and provide information are very low on my list of things I trust... If you were known in this forum and had a history of being reliable and then asked me to fill out a questionaire, I would consider it... Given that you apparently joined for the purpose of asking us to answer your questionaire, I do not consider it at all....

You are aware that there a many very malicious people out there trying to take advantage of people with things that look very much like this, right??

I took the survey. It seems to be what Ulrich has described. Other than one cookie, I can't find anything that was downloaded to my computer. It seems perfectly safe to me.

Boy, times are getting rough when a guy can't ask for some help.

I took it too. Clearly, it is what he claimed.

I took the chance for a couple of reasons. I have a special place in my heart for academics, hey I was a college student once--a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. I also have a special place in my heart for Germany. I lived for two years back in the 80s. I speak some German and could read a bit of what was in the native tongue on the site. Another reason is sort of speculation...my guess is this guy did some digging--likely Google type digging--and found a decent number of PCGuide hits in his investigation of "web board/forums" and how much they're used. He didn't just blindly stumble in here.

And I guess the final reason for me taking the very short survey was this:

Boy, times are getting rough when a guy can't ask for some help.

Steve's right. We should be prepared, vigilant and careful, but not to the point of paranoia. You might miss out on some interesting stuff and you might miss out on helping people in different ways if you don't come out of the bunker.

Thanks for your help guys!

I know, that some people might be careful with such a survey. I would be as well, I guess. But I have to try it anyway :) I already posted this request in some german forums. The same questions occured. Some even deleted my thread. I have to cope with that, but I'm really thankful to everyone who joins my survey anyway. The more people answer, the better the results are to me. Thanks a lot again! :)
