My system randomly reboots and the system event viewer (Win XP) gives this as the explanation:
"The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e (0xc0000005, 0xbfdb60eb, 0xf83d8084, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini050302-04.dmp."
Can anyone tell me what this means or why exactly the system is randomly rebooting? Thanks for any help.

Think that could be many different things.
The bugcheck looks like a memory location which doesn't tell me much.
Is there any uniformity about the rebooting (eg after you enter one program, or after a certain period of time)? is it a new machine, have you just installed some new software or hardware?
basically whats changed revcently to cause this.

Thanks for the replys. I haven't changed anything and the system was stable for about six months. I've been doing alot of work in MS Office lately and seems to reboot after copying and pasting several times. The reboot seems to occur right as I try to paste. This is the only pattern I can pick up on...It also reboots other random times. Seems to me it is probably a memory problem...or a driver problem. I have tried to update all the drivers with no luck. I am currently swapping out memory and trying to make it reboot by copying and pasting. I have 640mb of RAM so I may have a bad stick. Thanks folks..

Automatic rebooting can also be caused by overheating, and an overloaded or faulty power supply.
If you have a high powered Athlon system and a 300 watt power supply, then the PS may be suspect.
