I am sooner or later going to udgrade my video card to an nVidia so I can enable SLI, but if you look at the motherboard (http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/Product_Picture/LP%20UT%20nF4%20SLI-D.jpg)
you can see that one of the PCIe x16 slots is right by the chipset, so my question is: will it create any conflicts with the video card laying on the chipset?

Nah, it should be fine. I'm sure DFI plugged in a few vid cards to test it out! They should clear the little HSF unit no problem. And no, they won't impede airflow to the point where your system will crash. The bridge chip does need cooling, but it's not as heat-critical as CPU's have become.
