Just ran across the announcement:
http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=514250#post514250

The issue causing the decision to be made is high costs of researching and removal of so many (10-20) new trojans per week vs the income from subscriptions with a dedicated anti-trojan scanning product.
BOClean is still out there, but may eventually go away for the same reasons although nsClean has more corporate subscription support.

DiamondCS is offering current TDS-3 users discounts on other company products as mitigation, which is decent of them.

I wonder if TrojanHunter will be next? I bought that back, oh around version 3.0. I've never had a trojan of any sort since, but then again, I've never really had much of any infection on my own machines in a long time. My guess is the AT specific scanners will all soon be history. Too bad, AT scanners helped me identify and get rid of stuff on friends PCs when nothing else would.

Ewido is probably the best one out there right now and it has a free version available for private use...

These guys started out with an idea "I can write a program to eliminate the Remote Access Trojans we are seeing" and made it into a business. Unfortunately the laws of business and economics are cruel, you have to have a business model that allows you enough income to stay in business.
Maybe the time for AT scanners is getting near their end, to be replaced by real time protections or hardware.

Last I heard, Ewido and TrojanHunter were doing really well... I wouldn't write them off yet... I would expect MS to buy somebody out soon though... They seem to be moving to corner the malware market that they played such a big role in creating... :(
