WLAN setup problems

heyall, I'm very new to this and hope you can help me.

I've set up my WLAN and it's saying its connected in windows, but the two computers cannot communicate, can't even ping each other. I've disabled encryption and my firewalls on both machines, double checked both are using the same ssid and channel. and made sure both machines are set to ad-hoc mode, As im new to wlan's I'm lost at this pouint and was hoping someoe could help me?

Can you give me a little more info here? I assume both clients are XP (althought I suppose you could be using an older OS with some 3rd party WLAN connection software?) and I assume your wireless hub is providing DHCP to these clients, as most of these devices seem to do!

First question: can both clients ping the hub/router/gateway ok?
