I have a bunch of old Compaq Deskpro ep6400 computer with pentium II 400 mhz. I wanted to upgrade them to a faster computer but because of compaq motherboard, i could not upgrade the processor any higher. I bought two motherboards (Intel PIII and AMD Athlon) to put into this case but have came across multiple problems. The PIII mobo is a PC Chips M791G mobo that i could not reach the mobo power supply connector with the power supply. But i retrofitted another power supply that can reach the connector. However the front panel connector is very different from the case switch. Can i get an adapter to make it work? The same problem with the AMD mobo (Chaintech 7VJL6) where the front panel connectors were very different. Is there a way to get this motherboard to work with the case? Also the chaintech motherboard has an agp slot that is different from the old agp graphic card that i wanted to install. Is there a way around that?
thanks

I had the same idea to replace my compaq's motherboard. unfortunately, everyone said I would have problems fitting the board into the case. so i dropped the idea. apparently the mass-produced cases (dell, compaq, emachine, etc...) are custom designed to fit special components, theyre not generic like an Antec case. unless you want to use a haxshaw, some wirecutters and a soldering iron, you should go buy a case.

let me how it goes, maybe ill try it.
