I would buy a NEW book on the A+ exam from comptia and read it. You will find out which tools you need from the book. For most issues that you will come across you will need a philips head screw driver and that is it. Installing/removing PC hardware is not rocket science and is very straight forward. The other useful tool is a voltage meter to test voltage on different connectors. I would not buy a A+ tool kit unless it was very cheap. I have a flashlight on a head band and that has come in handy several times. I also like a long pair of needle nose pliers for inserting the small connectors. But the most commonly used tool is a screw driver by far. We have a nice A+ toolkit here at work, it has many things in it that have never been used and we work on computers quite often.
