I just got a new HP laptop with windows XP and built in wireless. I also have a cable modem, which is hooked up to a Netgear MR814 wireless router, and have one desktop PC wired to it. I also have another desktop PC accessing it wirelessly. When I tried to connect to the internet with the laptop, and built in wireless, it worked fine for about a day, then lost the connection, as well as the other desktop PC. The router was not sending out any wireless signals, but the lightwas on, and all the settings were fine. The computer hardwired to it worked, but not the ones with wireless access. I connected the desktop PC that was running wirelessly to the router, by an ethernet cable, and the internet worked fine. Still no wireless. Eventually a few weeks later, the wireless started working, but then stopped. Every now and then I detect it, but it will only last for about a minute once I connect to it. On Netgear's help site, it said to upgrade the firmware. I did that and the wireless worked for about one day, then it stopped again, and wouldnt work, even if I re-upgraded the firmware. I decided to buy another router, the WGR614, to replace the old one. I couldn't even get that one to work at all. It would stop in the installation process because it couldn't detect an internet connection. I went back to the old router, and wired internet worked, but wireless didnt. How can I get a wireless connection either with the old router or with the new one?

Try getting connected after disabling the window's firewall and anti virus s/w and check if the connection last's.my friend had an issue with wireless ( not able to get connected ) he had SP2 on his comp, he uninstalled SP2 and it started working fine..
