First try resetting the vido card and memory up to 10 or fifteen times as well as unplugging the cables to your HD quite a few times...each time restarting. I know it sounds dumb but I have the same issue with new motherboards, and generally after reseting (taking out and putting back in) everything a few times itll kick on. Also just because your motherboard is new doesnt mean its not screwed up. If reseting everything quite a few times doesnt work I would suggest sending the motherboard back for a new one.

Well you say "When everything is hooked up to a functional motherboard the postings go up.." so why are you asking a question? You already know what the problem is.
