I'm having the same problem as Aspire with slow performance only difference is I'm running winXP and I've tried defrag & disk clean also ran many virus scans and spyware scans all came up clean, I've deleted all unused programs and useless junk off my hard drive, nothing seems to work.

it takes like 5-10 min to boot and usually about 60 sec (average) to open anything, I'm running a Compaq Presario S6020WM cpu is a P4 2.6 GHz a 100GB HDD 256MB RAM any suggestions on how to speed up perfomance would be appreciated

Adding more memory will help, Win XP uses 128mb + of RAM at desktop doing nothing, so adding another 256 stick or better still a gig in total.

Also go to start\run\ and type msconfig, then click on the startup tab and carefully read through the list and uncheck the apps, programs that arn`t or you dont need to start up at boot.
