New mother board causing MPEG problems

After installing a KT600-AL motherboard and an AMD sephron 3000+ processor in my machine mpeg file will only play for about five seconds...stop and skip about 4 seconds of the movie...then starts up again. AVI and DVD files work fine. Ive tried multiple players and still the same problem. Upgrading my video card driver didnt work either. Before the upgrade everything worked quite fine. Can anyone help me please?

wow, I was using the onboard sound controller....just switched to a sound card and problem solved...funny how an issue with sound would effect video output...owell at least problem solved.

Thanks for letting us know the cause. Glad you solved it. Maybe there was some kind of contention for resources happening with the audio portions of the mpeg movies?
