I recently bought a new mother board off line, the chaintech CT-7NJL6. I figured i would just use my old processor AMD Athlon XP 2400+. I also bought a XFX GeForce FX 5500 / 256MB DDR / AGP 8X / VGA / DVI / TV Out / Video Card. Now for some reason when i try to boot up the system it seams something is overheating. If i let everything cool down the monitor will turn on and show the bios. But if i try to restart the monitor will not come up no matter how many times i try it. I have tried several different monitors but to no avail. Please if you have any information that could help me solve this problem i would greatly appriciate to hear it.

Thanks

Welcome to the PC Guide Forums!! :D

So you replaced the mobo and got a new vid card? What else did you install? More info there, please. Also, are you sure the CPU isn't overheating? Is the HSF unit installed securely? Try reseating that to make sure it's not crooked or anything. And what sort of case cooling do you have? If that's a Palomino 2400+, it will be quite hot already! If the case cooling isn't up to par, the CPU could very well be overheating just because of that.

Sounds a lot like a vid card problem, though, with the monitor not responding. You're connecting via the VGA port, correct? And the mobo's BIOS is set to init AGP first? The vid card itself could be overheating, but that's unlikely. How stable is the system if you don't reboot it? Can you keep the BIOS on the screen if you don't reboot? And what OS are you using? Or haven't you gotten that far yet?

This mobo has an issue, that you have to downgrade your memory on Bios.
For example: if it's 166 mhz, then you have to set it manually on Bios to 133...
Another solution is to overclock the processor...
