Hi :)
Awhile ago my computer shut off and when I went to turn it back on everything would start running, but nothing would appear on the screen.
So after a week of calling tech support I got no fix.
I got a new graphics card and that didn't work.
I got a new battery for the mother board and that didn't work.
But I figure out that if I took the battery out each time the computer shut off and put it back in it would start up.
So today I had to shut my computer off and it didn't start up when I removed/put back the battery.
So I don't know what to do now. Is it the motherboard? Should I just go buy a new one?
The fans come on, lights come on, everything seems to be fine but the monitor has the yellow light and says no connection or something.
My motherboard is:
Asus P4C800-E Deluxe.
They have this on the site about it: http://support.asus.com/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
But someone in the forums said it didn't work for them.
I guess i'll try that later unless I can find something else to fix it.
Thanks

Welcome tohttp://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif Forums!

Is it still under warranty?

You might want to try a new video cable to the monitor...

Download a copy of my diagnostic flowcharts from here
www.erniek.eclipse.co.uk/downloads/sylvanderdiags.zip
and print them to leaf through.
Begin on the STARTUP chart.

"But I figure out that if I took the battery out each time the computer shut off and put it back in it would start up.
So today I had to shut my computer off and it didn't start up when I removed/put back the battery."
Are you saying that you found that if you took the battery out for a while [to reset the BIOS configuration settings], then startup would work and windows boot?
But then that stopped working?
Can you test the voltage of the new battery?

"The fans come on, lights come on, everything seems to be fine but the monitor has the yellow light and says no connection or something."
You have no completion of the POST.
Do you see any indication [flashing LED's on drives & keyboard] that the POST runs at all?
There's a point during the POST when a single short beep is generated, often just before the video card is enabled, and there is then a display of white text on a black background.
When you have NO POST the video card is not enabled so even though the monitor is fully functional, and the siganal cable is connecting ok, you get no display [not one that's generated by signals from the PC, only the warning generated internally by the monitor].
Follow the instructions on the NO POST chart.
Is your PSU ok? Do you have a spare you can fit that's known to work?
You may at first be forced to assume that it is ok and just try a "bare-bones-boot".
Leave connected only 1 stick of RAM, CPU & heatsink & fan, video card & monitor, keyboard.
