OK the situation: Fried my cpu, definitly, i can see the scorch marks, i ordered a new AMD 2600+ XP off new egg, great. Got it in a few days, and put in my new cpu, turned on my computer, heard the hard drive spin up, my Video card fan go on, and i hear my mobo to system test beep like all computers do. But nothing pops up on the screen, no boot sequence or anything. I am gonna take apart my system and put i back together, because stranger things have happend when people do this. I am just thinking i killed my mobo then, is that possible if you overheat a cpu???
-Thanks a bunch any input is helpful....

"beep like all computers do. But nothing pops up on the screen"
So the POST has run and indicated all's well, but no display on monitor.
1. Is the monitor ok?
Does it work on another system?
2. Is the cable from video card to monitor ok and connecting?
3. Does the monitor normally display immediately after you hear the single short beep?

Download a copy of my diagnostic flowcharts from here
www.erniek.eclipse.co.uk/downloads/sylvanderdiags.zip
and print them to leaf through.
Begin on the STARTUP chart.

If your CPU literally burned out, it is possible that your mainboard and other components are fried too... To test it out, remove the mainboard from the computer and try to boot with only the most minimal components attached... Video, keyboard, mouse, RAM and power... If it boots to a message on the screen, add one component, like the hard drive... Keep testing components in isolation... If it doesn't boot to a screen, make a wish, and try swapping out RAM... If you are REALLY lucky, it will be a RAM problem and you can proceed to test out the rest... If not, you will need to find sustitutes for each component and try them to see if the component you are using is the problem... Keep in mind that the power supply could be the problem depending on what fried your CPU... Do you know what happened to the CPU??
