I purchased a used Compaq Armada 7800 laptop computer a couple of years ago and finally got around to installing my HP Printer. No dice....I went to Compaq's website for help but no help is available there. Their nearest dealer is about 50 miles away. I am hoping someone out there can help me.
Do I need a special card? I have Windows 2000 Professional installed on the
Laptop. My manual is not much help. Thanx for any info....

Welcome to the PC Guide forums!
:D
What ports are available on the printer to connect to the PC? USB? Parallel?
What model HP printer?
Need more information.

My printer is a HP Deskjet 812C and is USB. I have a USB port on the Laptop but it acts like it is dead. I also have a unit to connect by USP to receive satellite radio and video on my Laptop but when I try to install it I get error message that it can't find the USB port. My manual seems to indicate that a powered USB can be connected and I am wondering if that is necessary for the USB port to function????

What os? Have you looked in Device Manager for issues? Is your laptop usb-2 and do you have SP2 installed if using XP?

I am running Win2000PRO. I have looked everywhere but under my bed. I get the impression that it is necessary to plug in a powered USB Hub to activate USB use....Is that a possibility?
