I have a 1.2 gig hardrive set up as C: which bios picks up as a 1.2 just fine, but windows and dos picks up as a 540mb?? Tried reformatting, fdisk,
Norton's, bios, etc... no avail... it's "working" but bugging me that it is only registering as a 540mb harddrive when it physically is a 1.2 gig...
What version of Windows? DOS?
When you ran fdsik did you select yes when asked about larger drive support?
Did you select LBA mode in BIOS?
All of those things are typical areas to check when the whole drive is not being recognised.

Yes

Yes, that's what's weird, Bios is displaying correct information... at start-up.

Dos 6 ( believe)
Also tried my partioning software, but it "sees" a 540mb as well, no unused or free space...
It's be-fuddling.

had the same problem that was fixed by getting an updated bios.
Ok,
A couple of more questions...how old is the computere (BIOS date)?
Are the drives set up to auto-detect in BIOS?
Some more system info would be helpful too....
