 I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop, running Windows XP Home and Norton Antivirus and Firewall. I ran a virus scan the night prior and found no problems of note. I also ran AdAware and Spybot about a week ago with no issues. Last night, everything was working fine. I went out and returned, and my computer appeared to have returned to it's default settings for everything...desktop icons, tooolbars, background, and my Outlook and Outlook Express accounts were all reset. (When I click on the icon, it goes into the install mode.) Plus, I couldn't access the internet via my wireless connection (didn't try a hardwire). I did a system restore and found "Software Distribution Service 2.0" as a restore poin, that coincided with when I was out. I Googled this and it appears this may be a legitimate update, but WTF??? Is there a process I'm supposed to use to install it? There are no directions or instructions. I usually update Windows myself, but I can't determine if this is a legitimate update. I now have to do a system restore every time I want to use my computer (which allowed my to access my Outlook account once with the correct accounts enabled, but once I closed it and tried to reopen it, I was back to the install mode.) Any idea on what to do next??? Thanks in advance.
