I just bought a 64 athlon 3200 and I don't know whether I need to buy windows 64 edition or whether I can just home the regular 32-bit windows xp home edition with the 64-bit processor. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the PC Guide forums!
32 bit Windows is fine to run on your AMD, 64 bit Windows is more geared to the business market for now.

Welcome to PCGuide!
You don't "need" XP 64. XP is fine. It's still early, in my opinion, for a mass migration to XP 64. Drivers are an issue right now as is the deficiency in compatible security applications--antivirus, firewall, and antispyware. Interestingly, regular apps have compatibility issues with XP 64 right now and many of those that are not compatible are M$ products. Go figure.
If you want to make the jump, go ahead. But expect a bumpy ride. Me, I'm choosing to sit back and wait--and I even got a free copy directly from M$!
