how can i force a log-out of a windows xp home profile after a specified amount of idle time? i want to secure my computer from other users. thanks!

I'm not sure if XP offers the type of control you want. I wonder if this is the type of program you are looking for:

If you were to do a Google search using "Parental computer control" as a parameter you would more than likely turn up a slew of possibilities...

Set a screensaver and check the settings, it should have an option to require a password to get back into Windows. It's not actually logging out of Windows, but it locks the OS out for anyone who does not have the password. That also means you have to set a password on the account, which can be done in the Users section of Control Panel. USe a good password that is not easy to guess and don't let anyone else have it.

we run xp pro at work, and it logs me off after a few minutes. I think its using the "user switch" rather than actual log off. I've tried the password on the screensaver but that just locks everyone but the user out. My computer at work actual goes to the logon screen.
