Hi, I used the dial-up way to surf on Internet, and I brought the Netzero's service for 9.95 dool.ars per month. But now I have a cable, and I want to cancel the Netzero's service.
On its homepage, it told me to call 1-866-841-1442.
But I called two days, and nobody there.
So, anyone can help me?
What should I do?

Have you tried emailing them? Also if you use the Platinum Netzero service for more than 10 hours per month they'll terminate your account anyway.

I cannot found the email address!

I would then call their tech support number: 1-900-454-5866
or their corp. number: 805-418-2020
There should also be a "feedback" email function from within Netzero's software.(click the Tech support menu)
email address you can try:
feedback@netzero.net
speedyresponse@netzero.net
Don't forget that if you use their service for more than 10 hours in one month they will also terminate your account and refund any "left-over" funds.

GH- I have netzero platinum and they've never done any such thing, and I know I use more than 10 hours a month.
If you want to cancel services, you can always call your credit card company and cut them off at the source. That's what I did with a very old Compuserve account when I couldn't get any response.

Hi all,
I second Ghost's opinion on netzero. I was a Platinum subscriber, I was on the pre-pay plan, and was a heavy user. On December 1, I recieved an email telling me that I was being dropped as a platinum subscriber.
To make along story short they said it had become too costly to provide me with internet service due to my usage pattern and the high cost of access in my area. I could believe that, the cost of access in my area was why I was with them in the first place.
I tried calling them, never got an answer. I was concerned since I just paid 18 months in advance. Finally I got a reply from an email to the feedback@netzero.net address. A representitive of the company called me and explained my money would be sent to me within 30 days. She also said that their new definition of excessive use was two or more consecutive months exceeding 40 hours.
I never had a complaint with netzero untill this happened. I'm kind of glad it did. I went to cable, and let me tell you... You wont miss netzero at all.
Just wish they send me my money back http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif It's been more than 30 days!

It would seem that in some places customers of netzero's Platinum service are receiving letters like this one:
We regret to inform you that based upon certain factors, including the
cost of telecommunications services in your area and your pattern of
usage of our service, it has become too expensive for our company to
provide you with Platinum Internet access. In accordance with the
terms and conditions of your user agreement, your Platinum account
will be terminated on December 30, 2001. Your account will
automatically revert to our standard free service, including email
with your same member ID, on December 30, 2001, if such service is
available in your area.* If the free service is not available, we are
unable to provide any service, including email, to you.
We provide you with this notice to allow you ample time to establish
service with another provider. If you wish to terminate your account
prior to December 30, 2001, simply reply to this email, leaving the
text of this email in place, state your desire to cancel and your
account will be terminated within 5 business days.
You will automatically receive a refund of any fees you have already
paid for any period of time remaining after your termination, which
you should see within two billing cycles of your credit card or within
30 days if you paid by check or money order.
Sincerely,
NetZero
These folks are then reduced to the "standard" service which use to be limited to 40 hours but is now reduce to 10. ( see here: http://www.cnet.com/internet/0-3762-8-6719328-10.html for details on the reduction in free hours.)
Edit: The "standard" account isn't terminated, just limited to 10 hours. But ,from what I have seen in various news groups, if you use the service for too many hours in a one month period your Platinum acccount is toast. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
I was mistaken in thinking it was all platinum users who are now restricted to 10 hours. Good catch Yawningdog http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
Xiaoyao emailing feedback@netzero.net looks like it maybe the only way to get a shoutback from netzero. (Thanks to computer_junkie for the info)

For those of u who's been using Nero platinum, what do u think of it in terms of connection speed and dial up numbers? I am thinking of subscribing it. Yes, I consider myself a heavy user, is it true that they would stop your service if you use more than 40 hours a month?
Isn't platinum supposed to be unlimited use?

I strongly agree with the general consensus of this forum that, services like Net Zero are bad news http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif
With that said, I will post a couple links that might be of interest. Fair warning- I have not tried these services yet myself but am strongly considering it.
The prices are right and usage is unlimited.
If anyone has experience with this service, please post some comments so those of us who don’t can better evaluate.

They are selling the same service with slightly different features.(1/2 E-mail accounts)
