I am going to be moving into a house with 6 other people and am wanting to get an 8 Meg broadband connection and was wondering whether i need a special router to cope with the speed of the connection? I'm wan't to know whether the router will be fast enough to cope with the speed of the line, i don't want to get an 8 MB line if we can't use it's full potential.

Get the fastest connection you can. I personally prefer Linksys products. Setup is a snap. If everything is wireless, fine. I would prefer wired it's faster and more secure. I assume you only want to share the connection and not files and printers.

Please advise

I was thinking of going wireless as it is a large house and would be a pain to run the wires around the house. It is primarily for internet connection, although file sharing would be a plus. i really want to be sure that if i was to by the router that the speed of downloading wouldn't be hindered by the router as im sure it would be if you had a poor speed to the backbone of a wired network. I fairly new to networking so am not 100% on what i should be doing when it comes to routers.

The router is not going to slow you down. Someonen has to be close to the router. They should go wired.
