Hi everybody,
I am new to this forum, so please be patient with me :).
Problem:
------------------------
I had a problem with wireless connection on a notebook Acer Aspire 1700 running win XP pro SP2. Notebook doesn't have builtin wifi, so I used USB adapter. When I wanted to connect to an access point (DrayTek Vigor 2600ge) the windows says that he cannot resolve IP adress.
Description:
-----------------------
TCP/IP protocol is installed, but I didn't test it on ethernet connection. It is set up to acquire IP adress from DHCP server. On the AP the DHCP server is enabled and works with other computers. Other computers work with this AP.
Encryption and security options are disabled on both AP and notebook.
Troubleshooting I did:
1, I have tested USB adapter on another notebook and same AP - works fine
2, reinstalled the driver of USB adapter - didn't help
3, disabled acquisition of IP adress via DHCP and typed in new unique IP adress 192.168.1.20. Network has IP range from 192.168.1.1 (router and AP) to 192.168.1.60) - windows said that he is connected, but internet and other services were unavaliable.
4,I clicked repair on the icon of the connection and it successully turned the adapter off, then on, but stopped when it wanted to get IP adress.
5,uninstalled all other network adapters and installed them again - didn't work
6,I did a rollback to a system restore point when the connection was OK and it helped, the network was working.
I want to ask if someone has similar problem, or knows what happened to the system.
Thanks
