After viewing the photographs posted by Sylvander, I just remembered a choice one from my home town. This shows the bronze statue of the Duke of Wellington outside the Gallery of Modern Art in Glasgow, Scotland.

The story behind this has gone world wide and is considered part of the Glasgow fokelore. It seems that, after partaking in a refreshment, it became a tradition for some of the locals to enhance the statue with a traffic cone. Sometimes the horse is also adorned but I suspect the winds decap the horse. The Duke is also wearing a Celtic Football Club scarf.

Opponents of this tradition demand that the perpetrators of this ghastly offense be criminally charged although at one point even the Lord Provost (Mayor) said that you’d have to be awful stuffy not to get a chuckle out of it. He admitted he did.
