Internet connectivity problem

When we dial for internet after veryfying username and password, a message comes saying dial-up networking coulnd not initiate compatible protocol and please check settings in network icon in control panel.

I tried removing dialup adapter and reinstalled still the problem not solved. This problem happened suddenly and it was working fine so far.

Kindly let me know anyother solution.
