IBM PC Pentium 3 with Windows NT 4.0 bootup problem. After self test, it seems something is loading (hard drive is running for sometime and stops) but nothing can be seen on the display. When try to restart(ctrl+alt+del) again hard drive runs and stops, but as nothing is on the screen it is difficult to understand what has happened. Monitor works with another PC which has the same software and hardware settings. With another good monitor even it shows nothing. Help needed.

Hello jajp

I am using Diagnostic Charts

STARTUP
1. The PC is not "dead" [you have drive activity (do you have fan?)]
2. You think POST is completed.
[but did you hear the single beep at the end of successful POST?]
[or did you hear multiple beeps signalling problems?]
3. The Monitor display is not correct and if there were any beeps you MAY have a MONITOR PROBLEM and if it did not you DO have a POST PROBLEM.

Report back on whether you have any beeps.

Reseat the RAM modules and video card.
If they're ok, then try the RAM in another slot.
If still no luck, then there's probably a bad motherboard, CPU, memory, or video card. Swap out or have them tested.
