Hi all, recently, my floppy drive gave me some error. Whenever I insert diskette to it, it shows "Please insert diskette". Also, the floppy disk green light did not light up when system boot up. I went to the device manager to check, it manage to detect the flooy drive as well as it controller,no error. I tried changing new cable and floppy but it gave me the same problem. I suspect that the onboard FDD interface or FDD controller is faulty but I have a doublt, if it is faulty, how come the PC is still able to detect it in device manager? How do I confirm it is faulty. Any help will be kindly appreciated.

Try ...
1. cleaning your floppy drive with a drive cleaner(...available at stores)...if this not work

2. check the BIOS setup you might have a wrong floppy drive configuration i.e. if your using 3 1/2 drive, check if it is set there.

i have faced the same problem before...not much can i do here.. but
it is not wrong for you to try the advise from agentLX and Paul Komski..i think it is FDD problem...if you have the other system try to change your FDD with that one(the other system)....then i know what should you do.... :)
