View Full Version : Memory Not working

Pentium 400
256 sdram
64 sdram
32mb ati radeon
80gb maxtor
30gb maxtor

CPU fan was dead, so I replaced it with a new one. The case was really crammed, so I took out the ram and psu in order to get some space to work with. After having put the ram and psu back, I then connected the IDE cables improperly which cause the computer not to boot. After fixing that, the computer was able to boot. I then found out that the 64MB stick of ram was not connected properly into the second slot. I then connected it properly but I found that the system wouldn't boot. Then I took out the 256 from the first slot and replaced it with the 64. It booted properly. I then tried to replace the 256 in the second slot but it doesn't seem to be working.

If you could please help us out it would be very much appreciated.

Hi MangMang,

You didn't mention which OS you are using? In the meantime, if your using Win9X, or Me you can enter the BIOS press F10 to save and exit. The BIOS should then readjust and report all RAM.

Sounds like the reassembly was quite an ordeal! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Thanx for the response, but everything is fine now. The mistake was simple and quite idiotic on my part. I didn't place the RAM in the slot properly and it was sticking out slightly.

Thanx for the effort and concern though.

MangMang,

Real easy to do in cramped quarters.......hard to access, hard to see the problem.
