I tried connecting to my wireless networking using the built in wireless adapter -it says "limited or no network connectivity".

When I use Netgear MA 101 USB device on the same laptop it connects well with the same network ID.

I read the help but am clueless of the probable reason.

Is there any basic thing that I am missing ?

Well there are different kinds of wireless networks. Do you know what kind of wireless router and wireless network card you have?

Im not going to research your Laptop to find out what kind of network it is on. Generally speaking, if they are on the same frequency you should see the connection , you may not be able to connect to it. But, you should be able to see it and have a strong signal.

Based on this fact, how do I determine why is not "Connecting" ?

The wireless router has two basic pieces of information that have to be the same on the pc these are: SSID and Channel. Besides these two, you can also have encryption enabled. If you are on the wrong channel, have the wrong SSID or do not have the right key set up for encryption then you will not be able to connect.

The good old "restart everything" has worked.
