ok i have 512mb of ram in my laptop I have two ram slots both of them are used each containing a 256mb ram
i need to decide:
shuld i take out one 256mb ram and add a 512mb which wuld give me 768mb of ram
or
shuld i take out both 256mb of ram and add 2 512mb of ram which wuld give me 1024mb of ram
or
shuld i take out one 256mb of ram and add 1gb of ram
the idea i think wuld be best pleaz tell me though if it isnt
sell both 256mb of ram and add 1 gb of ram therefore i will have 1 ram slot open for future usage
and where can i sell my ram? and where can i buy ram
i have been lookin at prices and i see it is cheaper to buy 2 512mb ram instead of 1gb of ram so if anyone knows where to buy it cheaper pleaz tell me and if this might help i have a dell inspiron 5150

PIV3.0 Ghz XP Home

This (http://reviews-zdnet.com.com/Dell_Inspiron_5150/4507-3121_16-30418693.html?tag=tab) review shows it can support up to 2 gigs of DDR RAM.

1 gig of RAM is plenty but if you can afford it, get the 1 gig stick. That way you could always upgrade without replacing both sticks all over again.

If your laptop supports dual channel, I hear 2x512mb sticks are better than 1x1GB, (performance wise).
Also, if you look at those Cnet reviews, many are complaining of a "design flaw that breaks a chip in the motherboard."

What the heck are you doing with a Dell anyway? (i'm on one right now, but it's old [550MHz] and that was when Dell was good quality).

well its true dell isnt great but im really surprised in my laptop its able to play all the new games fine
heck it beat all of my friends pc and their pc rok
we were playin cs and i was the only one with the highest quality graphics and it was workin fine all of their pc's were laggin when they put it on the best quality
and im thinking of getting a 1gb stik of ram and if it works ill probably get another one is this a good choice?
because i read reviews on 1gb stiks for dell laptops and ppl said it really did work?
