Just wanted to know if you stood in line at midnight 8/24/95?

What was your first Windows 95 PC?

I never stood in line and I never ran 95. I was running OS/2 and using an Amiga at the time.

Yeah, M$ to use the Stones' song "Start Me Up" as the 95 theme and ironically, the song also included the line "You make a grown man cry."

Didn't stand in line, didn't even know how to turn a computer on at the time, a DOS machine was all I'd seen and wasn't really interested...A half year or so later I had a 486-50 w/16MB [30 pin SIMM] RAM and Trident SVGA card, SB 16 (AWE32), 420MB HD, 4X CD ROM and 33.6 Zoltrix modem (56K was in development but not available yet, stores had 'em about 3 or 4 months after I bought the 33.6). Win95 was the OS, seems like IE 3.2 was their browser at the time. Thought it was a great machine. I used that old Sound Blaster until I built this machine and no longer had an ISA slot to use, had to use the only ISA slot for a modem since Linux didn't even identify most winmodems yet, much less run them. Then got a USR V-everything external but never put the sound blaster back in. Figured after 8 years it was time to retire it even though it still worked perfect. Still have the original driver CD. The 486 was upgraded to a 66MHz CPU and win3.11 installed, (had a newer P-166 then, win98), but it bit the dust long ago when the barrel battery started leaking electrolyte all over the motherboard and corroded enough circuitry to make it inoperative.

No, I didn't stand in line that first night but I am still on WIN 95 and it does everything I want a computer to do. :)

I'd forgotten all about those queues :D
Didn't stand in any of them, I got WIn 95 on a P75 with 32MB of RAM - the prices of the RAM made me cringe (about £35 per MB!)
amazing how things move on :)
