hello friends
have an older Pc that i think i need another motherboard.
what i am needing is something that will run a Amd K6-2 500mhz socket 7 processor.
thru trial and error am guessing that the motherboard is shot so just want to replace the motherboard. this one will just be for kids home work.
any motherboards that will work with this processor ideas that i can get cheap?
thanks
Michael

Ooh, ouch. I did a Google search for SS7 mobo's and the results were pretty slim. It doesn't look like a cost-effective solution, even on the cheap, right now. I found a lot of old Socket 7 mobo's, and a lot of mobo/CPU combos for everything other than SS7, but that's about it.

At this point, I would suggest a mobo/CPU combo of some kind. There's a lot of older bundles out there that would use the rest of the hardware you have now, so it would just be a "plug it in and go" situation. Once you reinstall the OS, of course. ;)

hey again. i just bought a couple differant motherboards from e-bay, cheap that are "supposed" to be in working order. a couple of them already have the same processor with so will mess with them and see if i can get them to work.
thanks

I hope things work out then. EBay may be the last vestige of SS7...

And good luck to you!
