ok im still workin on that hp and this is what i have done. i put in a little pci video card and disabled the integrated video. that gained a few points. then i decided to see what happened when i took out the added ram that was put into it. it jumped up to 140! thats almost tripple what it was at but now i only have 64 megs of ram. why is the 128 stick messing it up and making it benchmark and run lower? any suggestions?

The RAM you took out could be slower than what's in there. I believe that if you, for instance, put a stick of 100MHz RAM with a stick of 133MHz, it will run them both at the lowest speed, 100MHz. I'm not positive, though.
As I recall in another of your posts you said you were using Nortons Ssystem Information
You have found why the Nortons system information Bench mark is worthless.
it did the same thing in every system I ever used it on.
What is happening.?
Norton bench mark is addressing every bit of ram during the memory test segment of the bench mark.
If you drop it back to 32meg it may even jump again.
Also the drive speed has an affect on the reported bench mark.
A Full drive will also reduce the bench mark.
