Tried installing CD/RW and RAM to my Micron Millenia RS2105. Now it is dead.. When plugging in and pressing delete key (manual direction for BIOS) the green lights on the key board flash but then nothing. If tower is plugged in and keyboard is left alone, no lights. Amber light for HD stays on for 4-5 mins. after the clicking but no beep. Fans on power supply and motherboard turn on. Joystick light turns on.. The CD-ROM and CD/RW lights do their obligatory 5 sec flash, but that's it. No monitor, no lights on USB hub or keyboard. MB is a Cascade III GVC 810E ?(From Micron Website) Was installing PNY 128 DIMM SDRAM and Pine CD/RW. OS is Win ME and has Celeron processor. HD is Samsung 20GB.
I have tried booting with only the keyboard, mouse, and monitor hooked up. Have tried the old 64mb memory in both slots. Have tried w/o any memory.. Have tried with and without the CD drivers, have switched the CD drivers between slave and master on the SEC-IDE. Have tried boot with EVERYTHING hooked up.
Any ideas? From other postings I have read, I may have Pandora's computer system..

Hello and thwack
I'm using diagnostic flow charts.
1. The PC is not dead because you have lights etc.
2. I assume it appears that POST did not run and that there were no audible beeps. This is, therefore, a POST problem.
3. I will assume that the power supply voltages are correct.[test if possible]
4. Disconnect all peripherals and system adapter cards except the keyboard and monitor [you left the mouse connected].[After switching off and disconnecting from the power source naturally]
5. Boot the PC and if POST still does not run you have a faulty system board [This is only if your power supply is good](So says the chart but I wonder about the video card).
6. If it does run; re-connect the floppy and run advanced diagnostics if you can and test the system board. If the system board fails the tests then it is faulty. If it passes the tests then:
7. Switch off, re-connect one peripheral or adapter card and reboot. If post does not run then this last item is faulty. If it does boot, test this last item with the diagnostics software. If it fails the test it is faulty.
8. Repeat step 7 until all items are reconnected and tested then re-test the whole system.
If it still does not function send me an Email.
[If you havn't got access to dignostic software you will have to do what you can without it. You may find it works with something disconnected and doesn't work when you connect it.]
Make sure no connections came loose during the upgrade, and that the memory is fully inserted(Sometimes the module requires quite a push to get it seated properly).

Woo Hoo!! Thanks much. Disconnected EVERYTHING (but the monitor and keyboard). Including the phone modem. (Have cable anyway) Since I had everything apart thought I would give the RAM a push as SKI suggested. For a second I thought the mother board was cracking, but may have been the RAM seating. Any way with everything disconnected, started up and good to go. Hooked one thing up at a time rebooted, before I knew it had everything hooked up! Could have been the RAM then again maybe I just had to hold it's hand and remind it what it knew..
Woo Hoo!

lol. Myself, I would freak if I heard "any" cracking sounds. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
