is this the problem?

i just read something on crucials website. it said that sometimes if the cashe is to small then ram will actually degrade ur machine. this computer has a 512 kb cashe and came with 64megs of ram stock. i would imagine that they would make it upgradeable but maybe not. is this the problem do u think? does this just go for crucial ram or all ram?

it has to do with the Older systems.
Many would not cache memory above a spec level

most of todays system don't have that limit.
What Make, Model Mother, board and chipset do you have?

its a pavillion 6648c, but i dont know what motherboard and i dont know how to get the chipset. if u tell me i can probably get it. thanx.

No, there is no known caching problem with your board/chipset....you should be able to run the max supported of 384MB without a problem
