Ques: Is it better to run a scandisk and defrag thru a command prompt?
For some reason I have that idea stuck in my head.If it is better could you please explain why ? Thanks

If you are in window's and use the command prompt to bring up Scandisk/Defrag-it's just gonna start the GUI interfaces for these apps.So ou're kinda defeating the purpose of using a direct 16 bit access, right?! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif{ which is a good thing since you don't want to do that anyways }
The only advantage to using the " Run " command box to start these progrms is that you don't have to navigate to them with your mouse.
i suggest running Defrag in safe mode, this way you don't have any apps running in the background trying to write to your disk while it's being " reorganized ". http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
