Hi there,

I have a Pentium III 450 MHz processor with 64 MB RAM. When I switch it on, the system doesn’t boot up. Normally, there is a beep sound and then the system boots up but now there isn’t a beep sound. The PSU and processor fans run fine when I switch on the PC but the monitor doesn’t get any message from the CPU. However, if I switch off the PC and leave it for the night, the system works fine the next morning.

I’ve replaced the PSU, RAM and the CMOS battery but the problem persists. The jumper settings are fine and there is no heat emitting from any of the components. I guess the problem lies with the Motherboard but it’s not a bad capacitor either. Could anyone help me identify the problem?

Thanks

Thank you Pop but I've already gone through the whole thread and have tried almost everything mentioned there but didn't help much. The system boots up properly in the morning but doesn't boot up when I restart immediately.

Onboard video, or a video card?

I know you said there's no heat, but this still sounds like a thermal event going on. Have you opened the case, cleaned the inside, and left it open with a fan blowing on it to see what happens?

Yes, I did leave it open with a fan blowing on it, but it didn't work. It still did not boot even after several hours.

If you have done everything in the minimal startup thread, replaced all the stuff you list, and you still have no boot I would say either the CPU or mobo are bad...

I think the problem is mobo.
What is the brand of it?
