Hi cdcdcon and Welcome.

Your modem/modem software must be listening-to or at least hearing the incoming call and it is somehow interacting with it. What Modem/Fax software are you using and have you checked the configurations? Does the phone ring normally and are you able to take the incoming phone calls normally?

Hi Paul,

I do have Conexant Soft 56 Data, Fax, Remote Tam PC modem. My PC freezes, and the call goes through normally. Internet connection has no problem.

Thanks

It is possible that there is software trying to take the call (maybe trying to intercept data or a fax) and unable to cope with a normal incoming voice call.

Hi Paul,

Yes. If Iam offline, using my PC, I can make an outgoing call with NO problem.

Thanks again

Regardless of the pc freezing; can you take an incoming phone call? I've gtg but I would look for the modem's settings (probably has an icon in control panel) and check how it is set up to deal with incoming calls. Is this a new problem and if so when/how did it start. Another problem area can be how such modems integrate with the sound card. Good Luck for now.
