A friend managed to get various viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. on her machine. I brought it home and installed AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, ran all several times and I think I got all the nasties. I also ran TrendMicro's House Call and deleted 2 more viruses.

However, just to be sure I'd like for somebody to take a look at this HJT log to see if there's anything suspicious here. Thanks.

Looks pretty clean, but you can fix this with HJT:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Also, it may be worthwhile to do a deeper scan to make sure...

Try running an MWavScan... It will produce a log in the lower window that has the bad list and you will need to use Ctrl-C to copy it and then paste it here for review.... If the list is extremely long, you can just paste the lines that begin with the word "File" since those are the ones we need to be most concerned about...

http://www.mwti.net/products/mwav/mwav.asp

It will suggest that you buy the product to fix what it finds, but that is not necessary... Just post the bad part of the scan and we will deal with it...

Budfred, I was looking over that log, the R1 lines, what site is that? A google search came up with nothing for it.

They are associated with Hewlett Packard (HP) and are generally not a problem... They can be fixed or replaced at the user's discretion...

Hey Budfred, I have a question, I know it is associated with HP but basically isn't it a Lycos search?

I believe it redirects to a Lycos search page and that is why some people choose to fix it, but it is not considered to be malware... I wouldn't keep it on my system, but it is user's option...
