In nero 5 I have the option (when starting a new project) to burn CD or a DVD, but there is also an option for DD CD, however I can not select it.
What is DD CD ?

Nothing in the Nero FAQ (http://www.nero.com/en/FAQs_Nero6.html), thought I'd post it in case it might have other useful info.
A bit more poking around and it looks like that may mean Double Density. Sony (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=9&url=http%3A//b2b.sony.com/Solutions/subcategory/recordable-media/consumer-media/cd-recordable&ei=eRAdQ9-RPMnwiQGE1pDhCg) says up to 1.3GB storage capacity. The drive has to support Double Density of course, which yours might if you have an option for it showing up in Nero.

This might help clear up the question. It explains what DD disks are
To use the DD (double density) facility you will need to have DD disks
