Hello again to all

Here at the office I work in, we have a small network of course. It consists of 5 PC's. 4 of them have Windows XP Pro and one has WIN ME. Now, supposedly when the technician came in, we were suppose to have the ability to access everyones C drive from each workstation. This is because it's a small family operated business so we don't have to worry about security issues among ourselves.

Now, although everyone's C drive has been checked off as "Share on the network" and we put in the correct drive letter... we can't see our network in "My network connections" and of course can't access anyones drive to get important information.

The router has been correctly setup and we do all have internet access. All IP addresses have been correctly issued as well. Does anyone have any idea what may be the issue? If I need to be more specific with anything please let me know. I'm still learning here so I have no idea what I may have missed. Thanks all again for all the help I have already received from the people on this site.

You can't see the shared drives on every computer?
-------
my first guess would be that you have different workgroup name. On winXP check> My computer (right click) -> properties -> computer name. Win ME> control panel -> network connection ->TCP/IP properties -> identification.
-------
I think this will be a long thread. Thanks to microsoft networking :)

lol...Well it took us an entire day to figure this one out. As stupid as this would sound...it turned out that a cable on one of the hubs was bad. So for some crazy reason...it was causing all kinds of nonsense to occur. As soon as we isolated that cable and removed it...everything was working.

We tried all this complicated crap and wasted an entire day to find out in the end that it was a cable. We just had no idea that a bad cable would cause everyone not to be able to see eachother.

The only problem now is that I'm the only one who can't use the network printer. I now have the message "User Intervention Required - Use Printer Offline" I unchecked the "Use Printer Offline" option but then I get another message saying that "A connection cannot be made to that network printer. Please make sure your are connected or that the printer is online" something along those lines.

Oh well....any ideas on this new issue? Do I need to start a new thread for this? If so...sorry. Thanks for the help again Klapacius. I appreciate your advice.

I'm just going to start a new thread to see if the problem gets addressed faster. It seems a lot simpler than the crap that happend over the past couple of days.
