Greetings,

I know this posting is both a wireless and wired problem, so I am posting it here to save time typing (or copy and paste) the same thing at another section.

I currently have a Belkin wireless router (54g) and I have high speed internet from Cox. Cox is being quite a pain in the rear  (a nice way of saying it lol). They stated they can't further help me because a successful connection to my modem is detected. I have four computers total in my house. I am trying to connect two computers as wireless, and the other two wired. Here is the problem:

- I know the connection is good because I directly connected, via modem only, to every one of my computers. With that said, I know my modem is good and the computers respond. When I connect my modem, I get a "successful" signal or connection on the wired and wireless computers. All lights are turned on also on router.

I tried to surf the internet via Mozilla or Internet Explorer, BUT the darn thing goes SOOOOOO SLOOOWWWW. HELP!!!! This applies to all the computers. I really have the feeling it is the router. To further worsen my confusion on this matter, here is the STRANGE THING:

- I am a gamer, and my family loves to game also. Counter-strike is a game I play a lot of. I asked my wife to see if we can play online to test the "slow" connection. We go online to play and the ping is very low (which is a GREAT THING). So I'm playing this online game at a HIGH SPEED, but when I try to surf or connect to a messenger (yahoo IM, etc.) it goes REALLY SLOW. CONFUSED!!!!???? AAAAHHH  . My wife and I tested this with wired and wireless connections on the four computers. The result is still the same: Slow surfing, but fast gaming. I prefer gaming, but I am getting annoyed waiting for a minute or two for yahoo or google to load up.

Anyways, I hope you guys can give me advice and insight on what the problem may be. IF I can't fix this, I am going to listen to the earlier advice, which is to pay the extra dough for a Linksys. Stupid cheap belkin router  . Anyways, I appreciate all who respond with advice. Thanks again.

I would agree with you as I have not had much success with Belkin router myself and had to go with a litlle better one(netgear or linksys or even datalink).
But in any case, there might be some problem with your firewall settings, have you tried disabling those.
You can also check you internet connection speed on all your computers by using the following sites, this will atleast help you identify or narrow down the problem
http://testmy.net/
http://www.pingplotter.com/download.html
Also look at the error log on your router and see if you see a lot of packets being dropped when you are surfing internet or even when playing games.
